Before you start

A few things to know.

What happens after the free credits?

Your API requests stop. Additional credits are priced at $1 per 1,000 successful searches, with a $10 minimum top-up. Self-service top-ups are not enabled yet; email faizank@docsalot.dev to arrange more credits. We never charge your card automatically.

What happens if a request fails?

Failed searches and valid searches with no results do not use credits. Rate-limited requests also use no credits. Retry a failed search with a new Idempotency-Key.

How do I start using the API?

Complete card verification with Stripe. Your private trial page then shows your API key, remaining credits and a live search form. Call POST /api/v1/search with your key. Read the API docs.

Why is a card required?

Each email and card can activate one free trial. Stripe verifies your card; we remove the saved payment method afterwards. A non-reversible fingerprint prevents repeat trial claims. Your trial does not authorize future charges. Your bank may show a temporary verification authorization.

What does one search credit include?

One web search request returns up to ten ordered results with titles, URLs and snippets, in US English. A successful nonempty response uses one credit. Failed and empty searches use none. Full-page extraction, AI answers, maps, shopping and images are not included.

Which search results does this return?

Ranked web sources for application and research workflows. Positions describe the order of this response, not a guaranteed match to any particular search engine. This is not a search-engine rank tracker.

Can I close my trial?

Yes. Use Close trial on your private trial page or email faizank@docsalot.dev. Closing it disables API access. There is no subscription or automatic billing.
