When World News API fits
A filtered news application that can budget using a documented points-per-request and per-result model.
Check before integrating
Search points and article counts are different units. A text field being available does not grant unrestricted redistribution of the publisher's article.
Provider endpoint reference
This is World News API's documented interface. Its credentials and response format are separate from an All Them APIs account.
GET https://api.worldnewsapi.com/search-news
Authentication: x-api-key header or api-key parameter
Inputs: text, language, source-countries, date filters, number and offset
Output: news records and availability/pagination metadata; quota usage in response headers.| Capability | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Search workflow | Text, date, geographic and entity-related filters |
| Article body | Article text and metadata in search responses |
| Archive access | Date-bounded search; archive coverage needs validation |
| Pagination | number and offset |
| Production access | Account points and content-use terms |
| Cost driver | Base request points plus per-result points |
Pricing model and production access
Points for requests and returned results. Search News is documented as 1 point plus 0.01 points per returned result. Check daily quota and other endpoint charges separately. Checked October 28, 2026.
For 10,000 usable articles, track duplicate rate, results per page and paid units. A request returning ten truncated articles is not equivalent to one returning a hundred licensed full-text records. Include the production-plan minimum in the comparison.
Migration notes
Map hyphenated parameter names explicitly and persist quota headers. Offset paging and provider availability limits should not be treated as a guaranteed complete export.
Keep provider-specific authentication and response mapping inside an adapter. Preserve source timestamps and identifiers so changing a provider does not silently change the meaning of stored records.
World News API alternatives
| Alternative | When to evaluate it |
|---|---|
| World News API vs NewsAPI | A straightforward metadata-and-source-link integration where article discovery matters more than a full-text corpus. |
| World News API vs GNews | A compact article-search integration that needs a documented step from delayed evaluation to real-time paid access. |
| World News API vs NewsData.io | A news pipeline that explicitly separates recent collection, historical queries and specialist feeds. |
| World News API vs NewsCatcher | Monitoring and analysis where duplicate handling, query validation and structured article enrichment are central requirements. |
| World News API vs Event Registry | A research workflow that needs concepts and events as first-class objects, not just a list of matching article URLs. |
A fair evaluation
- Prepare a fixed set of entity names, ambiguous names, exact phrases and multilingual topics. Pin the publication window and record the retrieval time.
- Score a blinded sample for topic relevance and entity precision. Count unique stories separately from syndicated copies and repeated URLs.
- Measure publication-to-availability delay on a monitored source set. Article timestamps alone do not reveal when the provider indexed them.
- Check missing bodies, truncation, source URLs and archive cutoffs on the exact plan. Store metadata and hashes where article-storage rights are not established.
- Record requests, pagination, credits or points per usable article. Confirm publisher rights and permitted storage/redistribution independently of API access.
A common integration contract
