When EnsembleData fits
A recurring collection workload with a predictable daily envelope and a need to budget endpoint-weighted units across social networks.
Check before integrating
Daily units reset at 00:00 UTC and endpoint costs differ. The username profile lookup documents a one-unit charge even when it returns null. Tokens are query parameters in the reference, so request URLs must be redacted from logs.
Provider endpoint reference
This is EnsembleData's documented interface. Its credentials and response format are separate from an All Them APIs account.
GET https://ensembledata.com/apis/tt/user/info
Authentication: Private token query parameter; call server-side and redact the full URL from logs
Inputs: username and token query parameters
Output: Public user information and statistics; the reference also documents null for a nonexistent username.| Capability | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Integration model | Social-specific REST API and SDKs |
| TikTok coverage | TikTok profiles, posts, comments, music, keyword and hashtag discovery |
| Response lifecycle | Direct endpoint responses; endpoint-specific null/error outcomes |
| Pagination and identifiers | Username inputs and per-endpoint continuation fields |
| Billing unit | Endpoint-weighted daily units, reset at 00:00 UTC |
| Operational boundary | Query-string credentials need redaction; null profile results can still consume units |
Pricing model and production access
Subscriptions with daily, endpoint-weighted units. The reviewed pricing page lists a free allowance of 50 units/day and a Wood plan at $100/month for 1,500 units/day. A TikTok username profile lookup consumes one unit. A daily allowance is not a freely pooled monthly record balance.
For a workload of 1,000 public profiles and 10,000 recent videos, count profile calls, all video pages, duplicates, empty pages and optional comments separately. A prepaid request credit, an endpoint-weighted daily unit and a delivered-record charge are different units. Keep cached reads separate from fresh collection.
Migration notes
Keep the token out of analytics, error messages and cached URLs. Budget by endpoint units and UTC reset time. Preserve a documented null profile response as unavailable rather than turning it into a profile with zero followers.
Keep provider-specific authentication and response mapping inside an adapter. Preserve source timestamps and identifiers so changing a provider does not silently change the meaning of stored records.
EnsembleData alternatives
| Alternative | When to evaluate it |
|---|---|
| EnsembleData vs Virlo | A content-research workflow that needs both simple public reads and deeper creator or trend analysis in one service. |
| EnsembleData vs ScrapeCreators | An application that needs a public profile or video page inside an ordinary request/response adapter rather than managing a collection job. |
| EnsembleData vs TikAPI | A TikTok-specific integration that needs to distinguish public reads from operations requiring a user's explicit account authorization. |
| EnsembleData vs TikHub | A TikTok-heavy integration that needs distinct video, Shop and ad-research routes rather than only a basic public profile lookup. |
| EnsembleData vs Apify | Scheduled TikTok collection where run history, exportable datasets and a bounded number of returned records matter more than a single profile-read response. |
| EnsembleData vs Bright Data | A data pipeline that needs dataset-specific collection, asynchronous delivery and explicit record-level success accounting across larger batches. |
A fair evaluation
- Choose a small fixture of public profiles, video URLs and keywords that you have a legitimate reason to process. Do not request private accounts or use account cookies without the owner's authorization.
- Collect the same inputs within a narrow time window. Record region, language, cache settings and collection time; changing engagement counts do not establish which response was more accurate.
- Keep video IDs and creator IDs as strings. Test handle changes, duplicates across pages, empty results, removed videos and missing comments. A successful HTTP response is not evidence of complete coverage.
- Measure direct-request latency separately from end-to-end job completion. For an asynchronous provider, include queueing, status checks and dataset retrieval rather than timing only job creation.
- Record accepted unique rows, pages, billed credits or units, optional enrichments and retries. Calculate cost per accepted profile or video; do not equate one HTTP call with one returned record.
- Confirm the intended use, retention and redistribution rights before production. Public availability and an API subscription do not by themselves grant permission to republish videos, music or personal data.
A common integration contract
POST /api/v1/tiktok/searchReview the request contract and tell us the coverage you need. Access requires enablement; this endpoint does not execute or bill requests yet.
